James Pennington

James has served as General Counsel of Janux since July 2021. He is responsible for the company’s legal affairs, including corporate governance, securities law compliance, strategic transactions, intellectual property support, employment matters, and risk management. As a member of the executive leadership team, James advises the Board of Directors and senior management on a broad range of legal, governance, and business matters that support Janux’s growth and development of innovative therapies for patients. Prior to joining Janux, James spent more than 17 years at Cooley LLP, where he advised biotechnology and other life sciences companies throughout their corporate lifecycles. His practice encompassed public and private financings, mergers and acquisitions, strategic collaborations, corporate governance, and securities law matters.

James received a J.D., cum laude, from the University of San Diego School of Law, an LL.M. in Securities and Financial Regulation, with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center, and a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
