Wolfgang is an accomplished C-suite executive with over 25 years of experience in drug development across both biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Throughout his career, he has combined strong scientific judgment with data-driven strategic decision-making to advance therapies that deliver meaningful improvements for patients. Under Wolfgang’s leadership, eight therapies for immunology and rare diseases have received FDA and/or EMA approval, including Ocrevus (~$7 billion in annual revenue), Vimizim, Voxzogo, Brineura, Palynzig, Roctavian, Raptiva, and Rituxan. Wolfgang’s experience spans late-stage research, IND-enabling activities for both small and large molecules, Phase 2 and 3 clinical development, as well as post-marketing and commercial strategy. He has extensive experience engaging with regulatory authorities across the full development lifecycle, including pre-IND, end-of-Phase 2 and 3, pre-NDA and pre-BLA meetings, and FDA advisory committees.
Wolfgang is a board-certified physician in dermatology, allergy, and immunology (M.D., Ph.D.), with broad therapeutic area expertise including dermatology, immunology, autoimmune diseases, rare diseases, B cell- and T cell-mediated disorders, and benign hematology. He has authored more than 40 publications in leading peer-reviewed journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Clinical Investigation, The Journal of Immunology, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Science Translational Medicine, and Arthritis & Rheumatology. His work reflects not only his ability to design and execute complex clinical programs, but also to communicate sophisticated scientific concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
